4. Club Rules


Maidenhead Hockey Club Rules

Maidenhead Hockey Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all it's members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators, volunteers and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.

Members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with Dave Taylor, Club Chairman.

As a member of Maidenhead Hockey Club you are expected to:

  • All members must play within the rules of hockey and respect officials and their decisions;
  • All members must respect opponents and others and display good manners at all times whether on or off the field to play;
  • [Turn out in the correct kit and be of smart appearance (all players are strongly encouraged to purchase official club kit which can be found at Hawkins Sports);
  • Players must not bring the game or Club into disrepute in any way:
  • - by arguing with match officials;
  • - by arguing with opposing players or team mates;
  • - by the use of abusive or foul language (this will not be tolerated);
  • All members must pay any Club subscription and fees for matches or other evens promptly. Further details can be found here.

Parents of young members of Maidenhead Hockey Club are asked to abide by the following:
  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them;
  • Help your child to recognise good performances, not just results;
  • Never force your child to take part in sport;
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all;
  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes;
  • Publicly accept match officials' judgements;
  • Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport;
  • Adhere to the going home procedure;

Any member bringing the Club into disrepute is subject to disciplinary action at the discretion of Disciplinary Committee.

Safeguarding and Protecting Young People

As an affiliated member of England Hockey (EH), Maidenhead Hockey Club is committed to ensuring that all young people who play hockey have a safe and positive experience. To support this, Maidenhead Hockey Club:
has adopted the EH Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey Policy
Is committed to complying with best practice that may from time to time to be issued by the EH;
Is committed to ensuring the best practice is followed in all matters relating to young people;
And is committed to ensuring a duty of care to all Club members by adopting and implementing the EH Equity Policy and future versions of this policy.
