Ladies 1st XI beat Southampton 1st XI 5 - 0
Scorers; Jane Smith & Jo Cox
Southampton started well and for the first few minutes Maidenhead seemed to be on the back foot. However some solid defending from the back line ensured that Southampton were not able to capitalise on their early opportunities.
Regaining their composure, a quick exchange of passes between Goodacre and Scarborough allowed Maidenhead to counter. With the defence parting, Scarborough was able to drill the ball powerfully into the circle for Smith to deflect into the top corner. This was to be the first of a four goal spectacular for Smith.
Ladies 3rd XI beat Wycombe 3rd XI 4 - 2
Maidenhead 3s went into this local derby with a changed side, including people playing out of position and 2 members of the 3as making their 3s debuts.
Maids started well, creating several attacks and chances within the first 5 minutes, but were unlucky to concede early on, when Wycombe had their first attack of the game. Despite this, Maids heads did not go down and they responded almost immediately, when Lara Bampford’s shot from the top of the circle found Emma Cowell in front of the keeper, who then reverse stick passed the ball to Jo Beck, who slotted the ball in on the post.
