Mens Boyne Hill Match Reports

  • Mens Boyne Hill beat South Bucks 3 - 0

A must win game for Maidenhead Boyne Hill saw the rapidly improving Boyn Hill squad struggle for most of the first half to impose their will on the game.
The South Bucks keeper excelled in keeping anything along the ground out of his goal. Eventually a swift move started by left half Tom Marriot passing to Left Wing John Woods who keeping possession fed Joshua Harris in the middle, his disguised pass into the circle found Andy lurking who reverse sticked a lifted ball in to the far top corner of the net.

  • Mens Boyne Hill lost to Eastcotes 7s 3 - 7

Boyne Hill this week went to Eastcote in hope of getting the points that would secure hopefully a top four finish. The game was a well fought affair with both teams creating chances to open the scoring. Hill started well creating a number of chances but were unable to finish them off. Eastcote scored a slick first goal which caught Hill off guard, they then scored two other goals in quick succession to put them 3-0 up half way through the first half.

  • Mens Boyne Hill lost to Milton Keynes 2 - 4

This "6-pointer" was always going to be a challenge for MHC Boyne Hill with both teams locked on 30 points. After recovering from 3-0 deficit to draw 3-3 in the home match, a good start was called for by captain Jonathan Crowther, but the first 5 minutes were spent entirely camped in the Boyne Hill half. Slick passing and high pressure tackling by Milton Keynes leading to mistakes from the slow starting Boyne Hill team.

  • Mens Boyne Hill beat Amersham & Chalfont 4 - 1

Boyne Hill put in a solid performance to dispatch Amersham & Chalfont 4 goals to 1 at Fortress Altwood, which puts them back in winning ways after Newbury & Thatcham 3rd team had interrupted an unbeaten run stretching back to the 22nd November the previous week.

Boyne Hill started well and took the lead with a short corner strike from Andrew Bartonwood, his 5th goal in 3 games. The game continued in a similar vein with Boyne Hill enjoying the majority of possession but struggling to convert the possession into anything concrete.

  • Mens Boyne Hill beat Bicester 5 - 0

Boyne Hill had a slow start to the first half of the season but gradually picked up the pace and prior to the Christmas break played some great hockey which resulted in some very good results. It was important for us to start the second half of the season with the same focus, attitude and standard of hockey that we finished the first half of the season with.

We wanted to make a stronger start this time and although were missing a couple of players this did not deter us as Woody scored from a short corner after 15 minutes of play.
