The game began with no gains being made by either side, however, after much persistence, Maidenhead forced a goal through Richmond's seemingly unpenitrible defence. Ian Knight the goal scorer. This gave Maidenhead a confidence boost and the game pace quickened as a result.

Both teams were closely matched, and playing on a very slow Astro-turf was testing of their skills. In the first half, the possession of the ball was very equal. Neither team were able to put away the chances. Hampstead & Westminster came close but had a goal disallowed for illegal use of the stick. However, this all changed in the second half when Raoul Cheema set the leadfor Maidenhead byscoring a fantastic goal ofa short corner, with his electric hit rebounding off the oppositionskeeper, he thenreverse hit it in the bottom leftcorner of the goal.
