  • Mens 1st XI beat Staines 3 - 2

The top of the MBBO league is looking tight going into Christmas, with only 3 points separating the 2nd to 5th place. It was vital, therefore, that Maidenhead picked up the full 3 points against Staines away from home, to continue the pressure on the leaders, Chiswick, and try to pull away from the teams below.

The 3-2 victory secured these points, although the match was far closer than Maidenhead would have wanted. Goals from Paul Brown and Alexei Vink were evened out by Staines before Scott Craig grabbed the winner off a short corner rebound.

Merlins and Tigers fight to be Top Dog

With Skipper Wardle on business in the US (checking Tiger Woods’ wheel nuts) and Vice Skipper Castle also absent (deputising for Tiger at a golf tournament), it was stand-in Skipper Craig Mair who took up the ‘herding rabbits’ task that it is trying to organise the Merlins.

  • Mens Boyne Hill beat South Bucks 3 - 0

A must win game for Maidenhead Boyne Hill saw the rapidly improving Boyn Hill squad struggle for most of the first half to impose their will on the game.
The South Bucks keeper excelled in keeping anything along the ground out of his goal. Eventually a swift move started by left half Tom Marriot passing to Left Wing John Woods who keeping possession fed Joshua Harris in the middle, his disguised pass into the circle found Andy lurking who reverse sticked a lifted ball in to the far top corner of the net.

  • Mens Merlins lost to South Bucks Wrinklies 1 - 2

    (Stearn, O’Shea) (Tarrier)

The Merlins were missing several of their key players for this fixture, in addition to which Bob Jigsaw Brown and Arthur Blocker Wood were called away on domestic duty. However their absence was more than compensated for the late drafting of Angie Hannigan who played a splendid game at full back.
