    Maidenhead Hockey Club will be hosting an umpiring day for players at the club on Sunday 11th July 2010 at Altwood School astro turf and classroom.
    There are 2 courses running on this day. The first is called the Young Umpires award for between 10 – 20 players aged between 8 – 13 years old The cost of this course is £10.

    Welcome to the day, reassure the young people it is a fun day giving them the opportunity to play some hockey but a chance to learn about the role of the umpire and to have a go at umpiring.

    Several coaching courses will be held in the South region during the summer. Details are below:

    VRQ Level 1 (Coaching)
    The Level 1 course will result in you becoming an accredited Level 1 coach. England Hockey has successfully trained over 19,000 Level 1 coaches to date and this number is increasing all the time. This is the minimum qualification for those who are involved in hockey coaching sessions working under supervision – for example, a Level 2 coach may be working on another part of the pitch and will assume responsibility for the session.

    · The final round of the 2009-10 Thames Valley mini-tournaments will be held on 28th March.

    The venues are:
    Under 8s – Wokingham HC
    Under 10s – Reading HC, Marlow (Bisham Abbey SC) & Newbury HC
    Under 12s – Maidenhead (Altwood), Henley HC & Bracknell HC

    The next round of the Thames Valley mini-tournaments will be held on 28th February.

    The aim is to consolidate newly learnt skills by playing 7-a-side matches against other local clubs, such as Reading, Henley, Marlow, Bracknell, Sonning, Wokingham, Phoenix and Newbury. The tournaments usually last between 1.5 and 2 hours. There are no winners as the results are not recorded.

    The venues are:

    Under 8s – Reading HC

    Under 10s – Marlow (Bisham Abbey SC), Maidenhead (Altwood) and Henley HC

    Under 12s – Wokingham HC, Bracknell HC and Newbury HC
