I remember playing on a sloping grass pitch at braywick as a young 12 year old, I fondly remember eunice’s hearty encouragement, the words have never left my memory “Come on Maidenhead, get it up there Maidenhead” still playing with a bigger curved stick she was a stalwart in defence and I remember thinking what a defender! I want to be able to stop a ball on grass like that! Her infectious character, passion for the game and affectionate passing of wise words has always kept in the back of my mind and something I draw on in times of pressure at the back.
God bless you Eunice, and thank you for being such a wonderful stalwart for Maidenhead Hockey Club and for me.
There will be a ‘raise a glass’ to Eunice on Friday 8th March at the club 6:30 onwards everyone welcome.
