Take a peek to see what’s install for you at MHC for the 2017/18 season.

With summer coming to an end and holidays a distant memory, this is the perfect opportunity to outline what’s install for you here at Maidenhead HC for the 2017/18 season.

This season sees us running 6 sides in the men’s section. The 2016/17 season was a successful one for the men’s section, which saw most of our sides retaining their places in their respective leagues and the Mavericks moving into the Higgins London League Vet Division 2. Good luck to all our teams for the upcoming season.

We are always keen to increase the number of playing members and welcome new players looking for a welcoming club and offer a varied standard of hockey to suit most needs. To those of you who know friends who used to play hockey and have stopped for one reason or another, we would encourage all of you to invite them to come down to training and to get them back into hockey at Maidenhead.

Below you will find all of the necessary information you need to know, however, if you have any questions please come back to either of us or your Captain.

The Men’s Management Team

The details of the Men’s Management Team are below which consists of the Captains of each of the men’s teams and other important roles needed for the smooth running of the men’s section. We have a strong team but are always looking for additional help, even if it is just a few hours during a season, so please let us know if you would like to help in the running of the men’s section.

Coaching
We have a very strong coaching set-up overall in the men’s section for this coming season.

Paul Loudon continues in the key role as the Director of Coaching covering the men’s, ladies and colts sections and will provide coaching support for a number of the other men’s teams.

It is with great pleasure that we can confirm the appointment of new Mens Head Coach, Lee Pettifer. Lee has fantastic previous experience within the MBBO region 1 league having successfully coached Ashford HC to promotion in 2014/5 and also led Eastcote HC last year to their highest finish in a decade

We are also excited that Colin James has agreed to the role as coach for the 2’s as well as leading the general club coaching on Tuesday evenings. Colin was instrumental in the 3rd XI been promoted from the MBBO Division 7 to Division 6 leagues during the 2015/6 season and hopefully with his guidance, we can get more teams promoted in the upcoming season! Rod Gauld will also continue to coach the general club session working closely with Colin and Paul.

We are also in discussion with other highly respected hockey coaches to run specialist GK, penalty corner and drag flicking sessions throughout the season. We will be able to announce more around this soon.

Umpiring
With the start of the 2017/18 season only a few weeks away, we are looking for volunteers across the club (including spectators), who would like to challenge themselves by trying their hand at umpiring.

Below is a link to England Hockey's rules section for anyone to sign up and review the rules and take a quiz. On completion, you will receive a certificate which shows that you have demonstrated awareness of the Rules of Hockey.

This will help boost confidence on the basics and is the first step for those wanting to take their Level 1 exam...

All playing member are encouraged to brush up on the rules and take the quiz!
