England Hockey Coaching Courses
Several coaching courses will be held in the South region during the summer. Details are below:
VRQ Level 1 (Coaching)
The Level 1 course will result in you becoming an accredited Level 1 coach. England Hockey has successfully trained over 19,000 Level 1 coaches to date and this number is increasing all the time. This is the minimum qualification for those who are involved in hockey coaching sessions working under supervision – for example, a Level 2 coach may be working on another part of the pitch and will assume responsibility for the session.

VRQ Level 2 (Coaching)

This is the qualification for those who wish to coach the techniques of the game beyond an introductory level and apply them to tactical play and the coaching of teams. It is only suitable for those with experience of coaching hockey. The course involves a minimum of 28 hours of tutored pitch time and theory work. A further 6 hours of practical coaching, some of which will ideally be mentored will take place following the course and prior to assessment. The asessments must be completed within 18 months of registration on to the course and portfolio's completed and marked within 2 years of registration. Candidates also need to attend some mandatory courses run by sports coach UK (scUK), have a First Aid Certificate and are strongly advised to be CRB checked and have up to date insurance cover. The cost of the course is £390.00 which includes VRQ Registration (through 1st 4 Sport Qualifications), resources, voucher for one year's subscription to Level Two online resources, tutor fees, assessment fees and marking of portfolio.
