MHC Mens 1s 2 - OMT

We have the potential to win the league
Chris Brown believes Maidenhead Men’s 1sts have the ability and potential to win the league this season after the side maintained their 100 per cent start at OMT on Saturday.
The captain felt Maidenhead were deserving 2-0 winners on Saturday, securing the points thanks to strikes from Stephen Roe and Aqeel Hussain.
It was their second straight win in the league and puts them behind leaders Oxford Hawks on goal difference only.
“It was a pleasing win,” he said. “At this stage of the season it’s about trying to build momentum so to get two wins on the board and six points from six is excellent.
“I don’t remember our keeper having too many saves to make, but I wouldn’t say we were ever comfortable.”
Last season the team were beaten in the play-offs after finishing second in the MBBO Regional 1 table. This year Brown would like to think they can go one better. On Saturday they host Wallingford.
“Our aim at the start of the last few seasons has been to try and win the league,” he said. “We believe we’re good enough and have the potential to do that.
In the last two or three seasons we’ve taken a step forward, whether that’s been points on the board or league position. The goal is to go one step better.
“Wallingford have struggled in recent seasons but have started well this year and look a different prospect.”
