Mens 1s head up the League with their latest win

Mens 1s 4 - 2 Amersham & Chalfont Mens 1s
Chris Brown has warned his Maidenhead HC teammates not to look ahead and count their chickens before they’ve hatched, as the league leaders look to finish off 2018 on a high.
Maids marched to the top of the league with commanding performances against Oxford University 2nds (3-1) on Thursday and Amersham & Chalfont on Saturday (4-2) and now hold a three point leader over their closest challengers.
The better performance came in the game against Oxford Uni on Thursday, which the hosts controlled for large periods, but Brown was more proud of his side’s response to going 2-1 down against bottom of the table Amersham on Saturday. In previous seasons he believes they’d have gone down to defeat, blaming tiredness following three matches in seven days.
However, on this occasion they dug deep and won the game with a hat-trick from David Tyler and a strike from Callum Turner.
Aqeel Hussain, Steven Roe and Dan Reid were on target in the win against Oxford Uni.
“Seven points from our last three games is a great return,” said Brown. “It’s been a good collective effort.
“Thursday was a great performance to be involved in, but I'm most proud of the way we responded on Saturday.
“We were 2-1 down and I think in that scenario we'd have capitulated to defeat in the past.”
