Maidenhead Magicians vs Wallingford 3

Maidenhead Magicians lost 2:0 away against a good Wallingford side who took the few chances they were presented with!

The first half was quite even, and whilst they had the majority of the ball, they didn't create any clear chances due to some excellent defending. Their keeper was the busier and had to make a few saves, but Dom in the Maidenhead goal only had a few clearances to make from through balls.

In the second half, they changed tactics and stopped trying to come through the middle where Derren backed up by Colin and Dave M was stopping everything. They used the wings more efficiently and started getting crosses into the box. One cross found an onrushing, unmarked midfielder who fired home to make the site 1:0. Rich went off injured after a disgraceful tackle (no card, of course). Maidenhead were getting the ball forward but lacked any killer instinct in front of goal and failed to create any clear chances in spite of winning a few short corners. Wallingford continued to find players up both wings, and the second goal came from a cross shot that Dom stopped and pushed back out but it was picked up by the centre forward who scored making it 2:0.

A disappointing result bearing in mind that we conceded no short corners for the entire game and generally played well but Wallingford were simply more clinical.
