Ladies 1's vs Sonning

A gloomy day turned out to be a lot brighter after A 1-0 hard fought battle with Sonning 1’s.

Good intensity from the start meant Maidenhead set the tone for a positive and fluid performance that resulted in a well earned 3 points. An effective mix of experience and youth meant that skill and speed created ample scoring opportunities for the Maidenhead side, which thanks to a number of fine saves from the Sonning GK kept the damage to just the one goal.

The break through finally came from a great team goal, A passing move starting from the back from Fuller through to midfielder and Captain Chantal, who switched it out to Umayah who’s natural speed and determination found Yana to calmly finish the job and push the ball past the keeper. A great way to start the second half of the season, a mention must go to Amy making her Maidenhead debut with a fantastic display of skill, great decision making and hard work, what a start!

Next week the Ladies 1’s have a tough double header against Bournemouth on Saturday 13:30 at Altwood and a prime time game on Sunday against Amersham and Chalfont at 4:30pm - it would be great to get as much support as possible for Sunday why not bring the family down and a few beers and enjoy a game of hockey to support your local club.
