A tough double header this weekend for Maidenhead Ladies 1’s Saturday saw visitors Bournemouth who The ladies 1’s lost too 1-5 at their home pitch and currently challenging for the top of the league, it was important Maidenhead got off to a strong start. This they did by pressing high and aggressive, winning short corners and creating chances, Maidenhead were looking the stronger side.
The break through came with a great ball into the D from Miall to Downes who skillfully turned backwards and deflected the ball into the goal. A well deserved lead and the second half was less intense from Maidenhead choosing a more reserved formation gave Bournemouth the opportunity to get back into the game, with momentum in their favour they managed to convert from a lifted ball deflected into the goal. Keeper Grace was superb at soaking up the pressure and Maids kept battling on with chances at both ends.
The final whistle went and a very well deserved 1-1 draw was at least what the home side deserved.
