MHC Ladies 1's vs Fareham 1

Having lost 5-0 to league leaders Fareham before Christmas it was always going to be a tough day at the office.

Maids started spritely, and an entertaining end to end first 10 minutes, resulting in 3 or 4 short corners won for the home side which they just couldn’t capitalise on, despite the ball crossing the line in the air but the umpire thought otherwise and another short corner opportunity unconverted. Fareham started to display why they were worthy of being top of the league with good, sharp, passing and high work rate off the ball, this resulted in a number of short corners for the top of the league side. This proved bountiful for Fareham, converting 3 of their short corners which in the end being the difference between the two teams.

Maidenhead should take confidence and promise into their second game of the weekend on Sunday, they showed a much better gutsy performance in the second half, pressing high, defending strong, a great display of sticking together and using their initiative to really take a game to the league leaders.
