Back to winning form

The Ladies 1st XI reclaimed their winning form this past Saturday, with a triumphant home match against Henley 1s. Although it was a slow start for Maids, Henley came out strong, securing the opening goal. Yet, the Maidenhead ladies, reacted well and responded quickly. Thanks to the endless determination from Jen Martin it was not long before the ball was deflected in the back of the net, to give Eddie Westacott her third goal of the season, leveling the score at 1-1. Maidenhead surged ahead, and with the help of her teammates and a well-placed strike into the bottom corner, it was two for Eddie. Maids entered halftime in the lead.

The second half showcased an improved performance from Maidenhead, creating more opportunities, and it wasn't long before they secured their third goal of the match, courtesy of Jacqui Bird, her first of the season.

However, in a twist of fate, Henley made a comeback, leveling the score at 3-3 through an excellent strike and a penalty stroke, setting the stage for a thrilling final 10 minutes. Nevertheless, Maids persevered, and in a masterful display, captain Chantal Hankin executed a shot to secure a 4-3 victory for Maids.

It was a great performance for all the ladies, who demonstrated how resilient and committed they can be. However, it was big congratulations to the player’s man of the match Bex Miall, who selflessly stepped in to replace Katie Hudson in goal. Her valiant efforts at the back were pivotal in securing these important 3 points.

Looking ahead, Maids aim to continue their winning streak in two weeks as they face Wycombe Ladies 1st XI following their promotion last season.
