Maidenhead take 3 points with a win against Woking

Maidenhead put in a solid performance against visitors Woking and came away with a 4-0 win and three points.

From the start Maidenhead applied pressure immediately and Woking struggled with how to deal with the high tempo that Maidenhead set. After 10 minutes the hard work paid off and a ball in to the D from Emer Harte was collected by Ali Lubbock who passed it to the overlapping Holly Cram who coolly slotted the ball home.

A second goal game shortly after when a perfect through ball enabled Carol Easter to jump of the rebound and fire the ball home to double the lead.

Maidenhead continued to force errors from the opposition who struggled to get the ball out of their half. Maidenhead then won a short corner which they converted from Ali Lubbock’s strike from the top of the D.

Maidenhead couldn’t quite maintain the same intensity for the second half and Woking pulled together a few attacks but they rarely threatened Maidenhead goalkeeper, Daisy Ruhle.

Eventually the various attempts at the other end paid off and after the first shot being saved Cram made no mistake on the second attempt and buried it for a forth to put the match beyond doubt.

Final score 4-0.

Coach Jane Smith said: “We put in a solid performance today and worked well as a team. The patterns of play were particularly good in the first half we just need to learn to truly punish sides by taking the same pace and intensity into the second half of the game.
