Eddie Westacott’s side had brushed aside Spencer Women, Witney and Teddington in their previous three matches but ended the year on a frustrating note. They’ll go into the Christmas break placed ninth in Division 1.
They’ll be out for revenge when they get back to action in the new year with the visit of London Wayfarers on Saturday, January 25. In late September they lost 5-0 to the Wayfarers as they opened their campaign with successive defeats. Bex Miall knows the game will be a challenge but with the support from Phil Roper and Shona McCallin, the defender is confident Maidenhead will be a feared opposition in the new year.
“It was disappointing to end our winning streak,” said Miall.
“We didn’t perform particularly well so we didn’t deserve to win the game.”
“But to be honest, we’ve been getting better and better every week.
“Over the last five or six weeks, things have started to fall into place and have started to click and we’ve definitely turned a corner.
“It’s going to be a hard test (against Wayfarers) but I think with the confidence we’ve built from the last five weeks we’re going to be a lot better prepared.
“I think teams are going to start to fear us rather than thinking that we’re the easy three points.”
