Great win for the Ladies 3s.

We probably got off to one of the best starts of the season so far. The passing was short, accurate and most importantly it was early so the pass found the receiver in space and so they were able to complete the next pass even in what should have been tight areas in the 23m and around the D.

We kept possession well and used variety and both wide options really well to work our way up the pitch in numbers with lots of options all the way. Lizzie had a stormer down the right with Claire floating the ball out into space for her to run onto and then slip back inside for the next wave to pick up. They packed the D so open shots were hard to find but most good attacks into the D were upgraded to short corners which was a great result in itself. The short corners themselves came out well and the first gave Nic time to place a very accurate ball through to Katie on the near post who slotted it home – with her eyes open – to give us a 1- 0 lead. 10 minutes later a short that broke down this time was picked up by Izzie and recycled straight back into the D for me - not to miss!

So 2 -0 up and all but one great through ball straight into our D we looked totally dominant and ready to find the back of the net a few more times at least. But the second half saw Windsor take the initiative right from the start and when we did win the ball back with some outstanding tackles from Katie and Kate in and around our D our passing game deserted us and we started to run with it or just hit and hope.

Katie and Kate did try to show us just how easy, and how much fun, passing could be when they found themselves in the back left hand corner and thought they might play a possession game of their own which they did brilliantly until eventually they let Athena join in with a final pass out into the IR channel where again we made some great attempts to work down the pitch and into the D.

Score: 2 – 0 (Katie and Fran)
Man of the match award: Lizzie
