Ladies 4's vs Marlow 6

Facing Marlow on a chilly Saturday for the first time this season, the ladies 4s faced a well-matched team. Bolstered by a pre match chat and some loud music, the 4s took to the pitch calmly and confidently, quickly establishing ourselves as a dangerous opposition.

Captain Ruth opened the scoring with a quick strike from the top of the D after ten minutes, and the rest of the first half continued as a back and forth between Marlow and Maids until half time.

Coming out hard in the second half, Maidenhead 4s broke twice for attacker Shreya to slip two goals past the keeper. Buoyed by this (semi unusual) success, the 4s were not ready for Marlow's counterattack which led to two goals, bringing the scoreline to a nail-biting 3-2 with only 7 minutes left on the clock.

The next few minutes were a touch frantic as the 4s tried not to lose their nerve, and with Marlow having a lot of the play, things could have gone downhill. However, the team rallied, and after a short corner against Marlow we were awarded a penalty flick, with stalwart Fran clinically flicked into the left corner.

Finally the whistle blew, leaving the ladies 4s the winners at 4-2.

Players of the match were Shreya for excellent attacking and scoring, Amelia for high work rate right half play and great passing, and Izzy for doggedly defending the left back. We left the pitch jubilant and ready to take on our next matches!
