Ladies 4's vs Amersham & Chalfont 5's

The 4s took on top of the league Amersham and Chalfont away on a very wet morning. Despite missing our captain an inspirational voice message from Bex set us up for the start of this difficult contest. A&C however took no time at all to get into their stride and found players in the D queueing up to score. If it hadn't been for some outstanding saves from Charlotte we would have been 4 -0 down in the first 15minutes.

Keeping the scores level for so long gave the 4s some belief and we started stringing more passes together particularly down the right hand side and for the 1st time asked questions of the A&C defence. Unfortunately we couldn't get any outcomes and once again A&C penetrated our D and found 2 players free one of whom finished the move and gave them the lead. If the 4s have learnt anything it is to never give up and again worked forward down the right and winning a set play in the 23m the 4s linked 4 more perfect passes between Chloe, Fran, and Izzie to set Bella up with a finish which she took brilliantly.

We knew 2nd half would be difficult but again held the opposition out for the 1st 15 minutes but only through some incredible work from Lucy, Amelia and Caitlin fighting for every ball. Unfortunately A&C gained a PC and scored near the far post. Shortly after they created another chance where they had options and numbers in the D and they finished to open up a 3-1 lead.

I think we needed the final whistle at this point although there were still some penetrative runs from Hannah, Alice and Ellie to cheer us on and Lillian held some good positions to create width but there were definitely some tired legs and mistakes slipped into our game.

A&C were lucky with the 4th and then got a final one just before the full-time whistle.

Maidenhead will push forward now to the last 2 games of the season remembering their 1st half performance in particular.
