Ladies 4's vs Wallingford 4's

An early start away at Wallingford probably wasn't what the 4s would have asked for as their 2nd match of the season but they stepped on the pitch with many players from their win last week and started well, earning a short corner in the 5minutes. Unfortunately the shot was too high and the ball was worked quickly down to the other end where Kirsty was needed to hold up their fast forward before the ball could be cleared and maidenhead could build again with accurate passing using both sides of the pitch and ultimately winning our 2nd short corner.
Wallingford, expecting to the straight strike left Ruth on right slip free to fire back to Liv on the post who put it away to open the scoring and get her 2nd of the season. Wallingford fought back well leaving players high at all times so defensively Maidenhead had to be alert and quick to react but we were able to see it through safely to half time.

The 2nd half was played mainly in our defensive half but with excellent keeping from Courtney and good communication we managed to defend a significant number of shorts with super running from Chloe to help maintain the lead. Despite struggling to find outlets from the back when we did find those openings the forwards, supported by midfield worked the ball brilliantly well and early to create some good chances with Tegan and Mirabell working hard on the base line to keep the ball in play for Alice and Hannah to pounce onto.

I think we were all relieved to hear that final whistle and also very pleased to leave Wallingford with 3 more points. Well done to all and to Liv and Courtney who were voted joint player of the match
