The 5s have their first match, which wasn't as "friendly" as we thought.

Well done everyone for a great start to the season. It may have been just a friendly but that didn't make it easy! Marlow were determind to get a win and pressed us right from the start.

We too started strong with some strong play from Taylor and Sophie, and good runs from Catrin. The defenders battled on but Marlow played in some long balls and despite TJ trying her best, they found the back of the net. By the end of the first half we looked a bit tired, and had lost our formation and the middle of the pitch.

But it was definitely a game of two halves, and after a half time talk from Ruth we went back on determind and focussed. Hayley and Helen did a great job holding the middle ground allowing Sam and Catrin to make some good runs and even a couple of goal opportunities! The defenders were great in the back, Tori made a great start and Ali kept her cool no matter how much pressure Marlow put on us. It was nice to see Lydia getting so stuck in, who is going to forget her battle cry on short corners. Marlow really tried to increase their lead and were sometimes very aggressive but we kept our cool and our heads, although Pippa's did get a bit dented!

Overall a good start, we are not yet used to playing together and had 3 new players this week so well done. We all came off smiling and achieved our aim of not letting them get any more goals.
