Ladies 5's vs South Berks 5's

It was a rainy Saturday morning to start our match against South Berks on our worm covered pitch! (Thanks Liam and Ben for trying to remove them all).

It was our ball to start but we were all half asleep for the first 5 minutes. When we finally switched on we worked hard to move the ball up the pitch towards the D. Our midfield team of Izzy and Holly made some lovely runs up the pitch with the ball, passing up to our forwards, Georgie, Kacey and Roo.

We pushed hard and won a short corner (the first of many in this game!).

After a lovely push in by Kacey, Chloe sent it hurtling towards the goal with one of her fantastic hits. It bounced around a few players before Izzy found the back of the net.

We kept our focus and continued to work the ball up to the D, with some lovely team work between Izzy in mid and Ava up the front.
The oppositions defence worked hard to clear our balls out of the D. Then Holly made a lovely run up to the D and managed to get our second goal of the game!

At half time we spoke about our press and our positioning when trying to score.

The opposition came out strong as they started with the ball for the second half. We did our best to intercept the ball but they pushed us back into our half. Our defensive team of Kirsty, Chloe, Jess, Clare and Helen worked hard to clear the ball out and up to the waiting midfielders. The opposition broke past us and headed for our goal. We sprinted back but Kiera expertly kicked away their attempt at goal.

We switched ourselves back on and spent the rest of the half working hard to try and get another goal. We have several more short corners but didn’t manage to get anymore goals leaving us at 2-0 at the final whistle.
