Ladies 5's -vs Wallingford 5

We arrived (on the correct weekend this time) for an early and chilly game - (but we had a great breakfast two weeks ago!)

Wallingford started with the ball but we quickly jumped into action and after obtaining the ball worked hard to try and get it to the D. Wallingford stopped us getting to the goal and pushed us back down our end. Our expert defensive team of Kirsty, Chloe, Clare, Helen and Kiera kept the ball away from the goal.

The rest of the half continued in this way with the ball working up and down the pitch. Kiera made a spectacular save and we finished the half 0-0.

At our half time talk we spoke about how we needed to up the energy, we all seemed quiet and tired. So after a quick breather and a drink we were ready for the second half.

We started strong with the ball but Wallingford intercepted and brought the ball down to our D. We then struggled to get the ball out of our end with several 16’s and hits that were intercepted by Wallingford each time. We eventually managed to and our mid field team of Izzy, Holly, and Chloe worked hard together to get the ball up to forwards. We have several balls across the D and after a few misses Ciara managed to get a touch on the back and scored!

This goal spurred us on and we drove up again to their D. We won several short corner and had some good shots on goal but Wallingford's defence clear each one.

The final 10 minutes of the game Wallingford had lots of play in our half. They won a short corner which our defensive team cleared but then another foot in the D meant another short. With just a few minutes to go the defensive team was determined that Wallingford were not going to score. Clare ran out fast and together the ball was cleared.

Moments later the whistle blew for full time. Leaving the score as 1-0 to us.
