A solid team performance

On an unusually sunny and hot October Saturday we played Yateley 3’s We soon discovered, as the first half got underway, that it was to be a very evenly matched game.

Each side showed their skill and drive to get the ball to the D to score, but each team also showed their excellent defending.

Yateley won two short corners in the first half but each time Jessica H, who was running two, cleared the ball away from the danger zone. Each side also had several attempts at goal which missed or were cleared by the defenders and keeper.

The second half was much the same with each side winning several short corners.
Our two short corners, Kacey excellently pushed out to Meghan at the top of the D who had a great attempts to get the ball into the goal but Yateley cleared it each time. Yateley had several shorts but they were cleared by Jessica H and Pippa who were running one and two. We finished the game 0-0 but were all pleased with our performance.

When we debriefed and chatted about who player of the match was we all found it so hard to choose as everyone had put everything into the game and worked their socks off!

Kiera made some amazing clears out of the D and I could hear her shouting when Yateley players were free in the D unmarked.

Kacey ran her legs off up and down the pitch in her centre forward position, and did a fab job injecting in our shorts.

Jess C worked so hard to intercept players coming down the middle of the pitch to the D.

Meribelle worked really hard in all the positions she played but especially up front, to make those runs to Kacey’s long balls and to drive into the D.

Jess H was spectacular in her left back position, tackling and pressuring the opposition heading down the line. And her runs for our defensive shorts were brilliant and much faster than me!

Ciara work hard to run on to the the long balls and to take on those defenders on her way up to the D.

Helen worked her socks off in her right back position, running the ball up the line and hitting through the opposition up to our mids and forwards.

LA worked so hard in all the positions but impressed me with how confidently she jumped back to defend and clear balls from the D when needed.

Roo also worked hard running for those long balls and wasn’t afraid to run at the opposition with the ball.

Lottie had a brilliant first game with us, showing her skills to get round players. She worked really hard in the mid position and fitted straight into the team.

Cerys worked hard in all the positions she played and when up front showed us how her young legs could run for long balls and drive that ball into the D.

Mia was our young legs at the back, running up to intercept the opposition and support our mids and forwards with her fabulous hit to get those balls up.

Nehal worked soo hard on the wing, connecting up between defence and forwards, taking on players and showing all her skills!

Meghan worked hard in all her positions and used her skills and young legs to get round the opposition and drive the ball up to the D. She also did a fantastic job taking the hits in our short corners.

Well done everyone on a fantastic performance!
