Kacey was our Player of the Match

It was always going to be a tough game against top of the league reading 7’s. And after a mistake with the time and illness we ended up with with a team missing some of our usual faces, including Kiera. But the amazing Kacey stepped up to put on that goalie kit and went out there and gave it her all.

Reading were strong and scored a few times in the first part of the half. We left players open and seemed to have forgotten how to press. They also won several questionable short corners, and despite our fabulous defenders running out and defending hard, they managed to get the ball in a few times.

Our half time talk from Paul put the fire in us and we were ready to go back out and fight for the second half.

During this half we were much better at getting the ball up the pitch, especially on the left hand side. Mia, Clare, Gina and Cerys working tirelessly to get the ball up to the D. We had several times where we were in the D but unfortunately their defenders cleared it out the danger zone.

On our right hand side, Helen, Chloe, Ali, Roo and Sasha worked up the line, getting in front of the opposition and trying to get that ball up to the goal.

Reading managed to get a few more goals in but we really stepped up for the second half. We were setting our press, working together and getting back to defend.

Kacey was amazing in goal and we are all so proud of her for stepping up. Without her we would have had an empty goal this week. She also baked fantastic lemon drizzle cakes for the Helen's birthday.

Kacey gets our player of the match!
