5 new younger players help the 5s battle the Oxford Hawks

This week we welcomed 5 new players to the 5's, giving us a strong team of 13 to start.

We pushed hard right from the start, with some great quick passing to get the ball up the pitch.

The Hawks managed to get a goal not long into the game but we fought back and the forwards worked hard to get the ball up, ending with a brilliant goal 10 mins in from Evie.

There were several defensive short corner but we had it under control with Lydia making some great runs out, clearing the ball out of the d.

The opposition then had several attempts at goal but Maddie made some brilliant saves, kicking the ball clear out of the d for us.

Unfortunately the hawks managed to get another goal but this made us work even harder and soon after Evie drove forward and we got our second goal, evening the score to 2-2.

We lost our shape in the d a little and the Hawks managed to slip another goal in off a long corner. This left us at 3-2 for half time.

Second half we came back strong, driving the ball forward. There were some great passes between our forwards and mids, getting the ball up the pitch.

However the hawks pushed back hard and unfortunately managed to find another goal 20 mins in, bringing the score to 4-2.

We didn't let our heads go down and fought back hard. We had a few more runs up to the goal but unfortunately balls didn't managed to find their way in.

The hawks managed to get some shorts in succession but our defence worked really hard to clear the balls out, Lydia made some brilliant runs out, intercepting before they had a chance to strike.

5 mins to go Lydia was injured but she stayed on a fought hard to the end. At final whistle it was 4-2 to the hawks. However the score didn't reflect how well and hard we had played.

Man of the match was given to a well deserved Lydia.

And well done to our new players to the 5's this week, Evie, Annabel, Lizzie, Amber and Lucy you all had a Fantastic game!
