A frustrating match!

This weeks match was a story in frustration! The result on 0-4 really did not reflect the game. We made a positive start but the holes between midfield and defence were quickly taken advantage of by Wycombe and before we knew it we were 2 goals down. This seemed to wake us up a bit and we became more focussed. This lead to more careful and consistent passing and play. Hannah and Catrin worked tirelessly pushing the ball up the field to the experienced Jo waiting in the attacking 23rd. Holly and Annabel showed great 1v1 skills driving up the left side too. The game really seemed to be ours with many attempts on goal and 2 cracking short corners. Wycombe made us work for it and the defence really had to work hard. It was great to say new Katie getting stuck in, she was cool, calm and took her time on the ball even when shoved! No one would have been able to tell this was her First Ladies match. Jess W made some cracking hits up the pitch - all the way up the pitch. Hopefully in a few weeks time I'll be fit enough to catch a few.

Half time gave us an opportunity to collect ourselves and listen to the briefing from Jacqui who was running the line this week, a big thank-you for that.

At the start of the second half we all seemed a bit in our heads and Wycombe really put the pressure on. Our defenders replied with some great clears but eventually the ball found the goal, This seemed to drop the morale of the team and Wycombe followed up with another one.
We swopped Hayley for Pippa at half time (hope the move went well Pippa) and her voice on the back line really steadied the colts around her. Jess D did her usual brilliant job as diamond and linked up really well with Hannah.
Once again most of the play was ours and we got it in the attaching 23rd time and time again with some great passes and runs from Emily, Todd, Annabel and Jo. But we just couldn't seem to manage to get in near the goal. We again had a couple of short corners, both attaching and defending but couldn't get something off these. This is definitely an area we will be working on!

Hannah who had come from the 4s to help out won Man of the Match for her high work rate.
