MHC Ladies 5s 2 - 4 Thame Ladies 3s

The battle of short corners
With not such a full team sheet this week we were very pleased to welcome Jacqui and Rav onto our team for what turned out to be game of short corners!
We started the first half as we always do, a little asleep and extremely quiet, which allowed Thame to drive to the D and win a short corner. This was excellently defended by out defensive team of Hayley, Helen, Rebecca, Rav and TJ.
Thame continued to push hard and managed to scored the first goal of the match. This seemed to wake us as we pushed back up the pitch. Rav used her great hit to distribute the ball up the pitch to our forwards. Annabel passed the ball to Holly who passed to Jacqui in the D and Jacqui calmly hit the back of the net, our first goal of the season!
Thame retaliated quickly and drove the ball back down the pitch scoring their second goal, bringing us to 2-1 at half time.
At half time while drinking our well deserved drinks (it was very warm!) Paul gave us the team talk we needed to get our energy up for the second half.
With this in our minds we started the second half ready for a fight. We pushed up hard, taking on what Paul had said about passing and running for every ball.
Unfortunately Thame pushed hard also and managed to claim another goal.
The second half then became a game of short corner with 4 attacking corners for us and 3 for Thame but no one managed to score in any of them.
We kept going and with much better man marking we managed to keep the ball up the pitch. Some great connections between our mids and forwards saw a great ball up to Annabel which she sent into Jacqui who once more very calmly found the back of the net, bring us to 3-2.
Thame retaliated and manage to bring the final score to 4-2 before the final whistle.
Our man of the match went very deservedly to Jacqui.
