We just need to keep it going...………...

Match report for match against Banbury

It was hard to remember everything that happened in this match because it was such a great match to play and there was so much good play, here is just the small amount I remembered! Well done girls it was a fantastic match to play in.
After a good long warm up, where due to a few extra minutes spare we added the three man weave, we got our heads focused ready to play our hardest.
I of course as captain led by example with a fantastic start to the game…or not, but once I’d managed to hit the ball we were off to a flying start.
We drove hard and for the first part of the game the ball was mostly in their defensive half, the three man weave at warm up helped us to get our heads into quick passing mode and keeping the ball moving between us meant Banbury struggled to intercept.
We worked hard knowing that we had rolling subs to allow us a quick breather. And after a few attacking short corners our hard work paid off as the ball, hit by Jess, found the back of the net. This spurred us on to work even harder and then it was Sophie B’s turn to find the back of the net.
We were starting to tire and Banbury managed to get through to our D, but Kiera was not going to let the ball in and made a fantastic save when the ball was flying high through the air.
We finished the first half 2-0 up but had lots to talk about for our second half.
The main thing being switching and using our left side.
With this in mind we regrouped and were ready for the second half.
But Banbury were not giving up without a fight. They pushed out hard and we all jumped back to defend.
We won the ball back and much of the play from then on was up in their D. It was then Maddie’s turn to score at only 10 minutes into the half.
We then won some attacking short corner and throughout the rest of the half Maddie scored two more and so did Sophie, meaning both scored a hat trick this game!
We were lucky to finish the game with a score of 7-0, (as two had come off of Banbury players!) but what a brilliant game to play in!
Man of the Match was awarded to Maddie T, who had a fantastic game.
