Ladies 5s 0 - 4 Newbury & Thatcham Ladies 4s

This week's match was... interesting to say the least. We had 15 players, which was nice, but sadly we lost yet another forward to injury!

Newbury had first pushback, and started fast with a team we did not recognise from our previous game, scoring a goal in about 10 minutes. We were moving a little slow due to the Braywick curse and due to some unlucky feet in the D they had a couple of short corners which they managed to convert to 2 goals, despite some good saves from Keira. We did have some good runs and big Jess put some great balls through but just couldn't seem to do anything with them.

After a brief half time talk, we were all fired up and ready to go!

We came out in the second half really working hard. Helen made some amazing runs back to defend and Catrin and Amelia were connecting well; we had way more play, kept it up at their end much more - but again, a day of ups and downs - we conceded another goal. Despite Kiera saving it a several times in a row, we just couldn't get it out of the D and they scored. We did, however, hassle them much more and put Thursday's practice of the jab tackle to excellent use. Towards the end of the match, Pippa got a ball to the head (and a disappointingly small bump to go with it) and we had a couple of shorts that we sadly didn't manage to do anything with.

Man of the Match - TJ Rimmer
Teas were great as always and cake for the two birthday girls - Hayley and Jess D
