Well, what a way to start the season!

It was just far too hot today. Everyone coped really well with some really unpleasant weather which not only made it really uncomfortable to play, it also completely blinded us for the first half.

Overall we played very well, especially given that it was the first match of the season!

We struggled in the first half with ensuring we had enough people in the D to actually score goals - we had some really close attempts, but through some really bad luck and some very good goalkeeping we kept being denied. We did manage to get a short corner seconds after Jess W stepped off the pitch and we covered that well, thanks to people taking that challenge.

There was some excellent work in midfield from both Amelia and Elouise, who really stepped up their usual work rate in relatively unfamiliar positions - plus Catrin who is always a powerhouse on the right.

Charlotte made her debut with style, scoring a great goal by drawing the keeper out and getting round her to neatly put the ball in.

After a quick break, we started the second half which was also very hot but this time the sun was behind us! We seemed to use this to our advantage and pushed much higher which resulted in us playing most of it in our attacking half.

There were several excellent link ups between our current and former captains, at least one of which almost resulted in a goal!

We had way more people actually in the D for the second half which let Rippon pass the ball off to Elousie who made a beautiful pass to Boycott who put it in the back of the net.

We had 2 more attacking shorts that we didn't manage to convert but did well to make sure that we had no defensive shorts.

The final score was 2-0, and Amelia very deservedly got man of the match with Elouise and Charlotte getting honourable mentions.
