and much needed...………..

Here is this weeks match report written by TJ but thank you very much to Sophie for taking notes and for coming to support us!

This week was such an amazing game! We had first pushback, and made the absolute most of it, making loads of forward progression in the first 6 mins and at mins in, Anji scored a lovely goal with a deft flick over the keeper.

With such a good start, we really kept the work rate up and got a short 9 mins in, a slap from the top of the D from Jess W rebounded out to Ruth who did a great push that went just wide.

Right after that we picked it back up again and kept on the attack, with Anji running down the right side, she slapped it into the D, to find Maddie at the P spot - she took a lovely shot but the keeper saved it.

Jess put a lovely ball across the 23, and Amelia did an amazing job to pick it up, but unfortunately it hit a foot on the way through. We were doing amazing work all over the pitch, and could definitely feel a second goal coming!

Building on that energy, there was a ball in from Jess on the left which got deflected back to Lindsey who deftly slotted the ball across the keeper to the back post where Anji once again just flicked it over the line.

We were thrilled and continued with that attacking momentum, leading Maddie Todd 20 minutes in put across another lovely slip to Anji at the back post, she took a great shot that went just wide of the post.

A free hit from right hand side of the D was then played to Maddie at the top, she took a cracking shot that was unfortunately stopped by defender.

At half time we had a chat trying to iron out the little issues that we had noticed, and making sure we kept our focus and intensity over the break.

Banbury had pushback for the second half but we were on them immediately. Jess put a fab pass through to Maddie, who deflected it to Eloise, who took it through to goal, very calmly put it on an opposition foot.

For the short, Maddie slipped it to Jess at the top of the D, she took a lovely shot but it was deflected on the way through. Not long afterward we got a second short, due to some excellent play from Eloise. Once more Maddie injected to Jess but again a deflection took it wide.

Ruth did an amazing run into the D, dribbling pass three players, eventually being stopped by a player, and earning a short corner for Maidenhead.

The short was a lovely push by Maddie that went straight to Jess who was waiting at the top. She made a beautiful slip to Ruth, who put an absolute rocket of a ball to the back post, and a fantastic deflection in front of the keeper from Elouise sees the ball fly over the line - 3-0 to Maidenhead!

Again keeping that same focus Eloise made another incredible run into the D, using all her skills and pace to get past four players, but the ball was stopped illegally and a short corner given.

The short corner was given to Jess at the top, then there was some lovely passing around the top, and the ball eventually dropped to Amelia, who’s shot fired narrowly wide of the post and the final whistle went leaving the full time score at 3-0 to the 5s!

Everyone had a really good game this week, we did fantastically well, really co-ordinated and focused on what we were doing. One thing we do need to make absolutely sure of is that we have players on the posts to pick up those shots that get dinked wide.

Man of the Match was pretty unanimously given to Anji this week, who had a stand out game, really working hard upfront and making loads of shots in the D.
