Ladies 5's against South Berks Ladies 4's

Our match against South Berks was a tough one - it started early and the whole time was freezing cold, everyone was in thermals and it hurt to hit the ball.

It was our pushback to start but the came out hard and strong and scored 2 goals in 10 minutes. In that same time, Ruth did some good running and then promptly pulled her hamstring - we hope you are feeling better Ruth!

We kept up a really good pace for the rest of the half, with a few near misses, including one from Lindsey, another from Boycott that came off the post and an attacking short we didn't convert.

Anji had a very good match, making some excellent runs up the line and this led to her scoring a goal about 18 minutes in.

South Berks unfortunately equalised 5 minutes later, which got us a bit down and we got very tired.

We had a really fierce half time chat, Pippa, Helen and Lindsey got us all fired up for the second half and it was good to have insight from Sophie Lucas too!

We were determined in the second half to make up the difference and despite it being their pushback we immediately intercepted and Boycott took it up the pitch to score inside a minute - and then did it again straight away, driving left and flicking the ball behind the goalie so we were back at 3-3.

They came back with another goal at only 8 minutes in but we didn't let that deter us - we were very focused and much more aggressive in the D. This lead to an attacking short for us 20 minutes which several of people had attempts during, it pinged around for a while until Charlotte got hold of it and put it in the net bringing us back to 4-4!

We kept going and kept them at bay until the last moment - a defensive short was called and then the whistle went. After a brief and tough tussle we managed to clear it and the game ended 4-4 another really good result and a truly excellent team performance.
