We played great but not the result we wanted

Saturday's match was just so unbelievably cold. We had first pushback but they caught us on the hop and had two quick forwards that hung high, picked it up and managed to put it round Kiera.

After that, we were really fired up, everyone stepped up their game and worked so hard. Anji and Elouise were making some excellent runs, making the opposition work hard to keep up with them and displaying some great 3D skills.

Catrin and Ruth ran really hard, making excellent progress up the wings, with Pippa and Katie making some great stops in the middle. Anji took the ball into the D and won a short that turned into 3 attacking shorts in a row, but despite our best efforts we didn't manage to score from them.

There was a second where they go the ball away from us and took it up to our D, but Kiera made a really good save by herself. Once we caught up to them we gave away a short that they didn't quite get on the end of that then turned into a second short that went in, bringing the score to 2-0. Unfortunately in the midst of this, Helen caught a ball with her elbow and had to go off for a short while to recuperate.

At half time we enjoyed some hot chocolate, courtesy of Gill (Katie's Mum) and spoke about keeping up the work rate and doing what we were doing which was actually very good.

The second half of the game was just as cold. We kept our intensity and energy up, making sure we pushed the opposition and really held our own.

Roo had a great match, making some good runs and an incredible interception that gave us an opportunity at the goal. Katie cracked the ball across the D but sadly we didn't manage to tip it in.

Anji managed to get an elbow in her face at some point and after a quick cry to regain strength and power, Katie took part in a bully that she won and then immediately kicked.

We spent the rest of the match working hard to even the score and right at the end we had 2 more short corners in a row, and after the whistle went Sophie injected the ball, Jess D took a great shot that was heading just a tiny bit wide but Boycott was there to just touch it behind the keeper to bring the final score to 2-1.

We played so well as a team this week and were really unfortunate not to score and take better advantage of the chances we gave ourselves. Kiera really saved us this week and got a well deserved Man of the Match, with Honorable mentions going to Tegan and Anji for their excellent work.
