Maidenhead U12 Girls were guests of South Berks this morning at Wellington College where they were playing against Oxford Hawks, South Berks and Thame.
Due to the half term holidays each of the clubs only had 1 team each so it did give us an opportunity to play 20 minute games with corners giving us perfect preparation for the In2Hockey tournament in a few weeks time.
Our first game was against Oxford Hawks which saw us coming out strong at the start using a new formation which worked very well with us, with 2 goals secured in the first half of the game. The second half we secured another goal giving us a 3-0 win. The girls were linking up so well up the wings and in the D which gave us the advantage.
The second game was against South Berks which was very evenly matched. There were lots of attempts on goal by both teams, but we ended with a 0-0 draw.
Our final game was against Thame. In the first half Thame secured a short corner and scored a goal from this. The Maidenhead U12 Girls were determined to get a goal and in the second half worked particularly hard and got themselves in a great position to secure themselves a goal giving us a 1-1 draw.
Coaches Helen and Holly were super proud of how the girls played today. Using our new formation with a high forward (Amy) and 3 in the midfield worked very well and our super defence team were absolutely amazing today. The team are getting more experienced doing defensive and attacking shorts. You are all growing so much in confidence on the pitch.
Thanks to all the parents for your support today and the round of applause for your girls as they came off the pitch. We are sure you are as proud of them as we are.
Squad - Edie (GK) Asiye, Reina, Tilly, Evie, Alex, Megan and Amy.
