Well, the reputation of Altwood and its' local micro climate continues with the rain and the wind making conditions pretty uncomfortable. This was the first game for the U14G Development team this year and the game got underway once Amersham had found their keeper. Congrats to Lucy and Kelly for the gamesmanship for agreeing to play for Amersham should their keeper remain lost.
The first half felt like a continuous attack from Amersham with them getting a goal early on. Player of the match, Georgia, had one amazing clearance of the line with the defenders and Lucy keeping it to one nil at half time. Half time talk focussed on getting wide as Amersham were attacking right down the middle.
Second half improved a lot with the defence hitting the ball out wide and as a result Maids took a number of attacks into the D. Amersham continued to be relentless and knocked in two more goals after goal mouth scrambles. Another Maidenhead attack led to a great shot from Elin being saved by the keeper. A special mention for our midfield workhorse Aashni who seemed to be everywhere. Amersham finished it off with another and the game finished 0-4.
Congrats to the girls on their first game of the season, the conditions did not help and the tenacity they showed was really encouraging for the rest of the season. A big thank you to Amelia and Lucy who umpired.
