Men's 2's vs Eastcote 3

ALL THE TWO'S

On a fine Saturday afternoon the Men's 1s and 2s had drawn 2all. Now it was up to the threes.

The game started well with some good attacking play from Maidenhead through Ollie James and Viren, with Tim leading the line well. Possession was being dominated on the whole by maids they just weren't creating any clear cut chances.

So it was against the run of play when Phoenix took the lead after some less than convincing defending by maids and their strike on goal went in off a defenders foot to make matters worse. Wrong footing Dom in goal. And so to half time maids found themselves 1 down.

At the start of the second half Merriman decided to try and smash the ball out of defence when under pressure, but instead of completing his pass it was an air shot. Meaning their CF gratefully nicked the ball and calmly slotted home. Maids 2-0 down and half time plans out of the window or so it seemed.

With Derren constantly winning the ball back in MF maids pressure started to tell and a few short corners started to come maidenhead's way. It was a couple of these that produced some good saves from their keeper and then winning back possession after a short was cleared out by their defence Dave Merriman was on hand to atone for his air short with a great strike into the corner. 2-1 and maids back in it. They continued to press with Ollie driving us forward at the heart of MF and looked the better team. The oppo were not creating anything and were starting to cave under the pressure. It was from another short corner that maids created mayhem in their D and ollie was on hand to put the ball in with his back to goal and the strike going through his own legs which totally foxed their keeper. So maids were level after a great comeback and were now pushing for the winner. But it was not to be and a point a piece is how it ended. So the 3rd 2 all draw for the Men's section on this Saturday had been accomplished.
