A frustrating 3-1 reverse

A frustrating 3-1 loss for the 2s away to Wycombe 3s halted the momentum from a good win at home to MK last weekend. Maids were generally the better team throughout the match, but failed to create enough clear cut chances and conceded a couple of scrappy goals.

Maids dominated the opening 20 minutes of the match, but having failed to fine the breakthough were punished as Wycombe scored from a messy short-corner. As Maids pushed to find an equaliser they were lucky to not go two down before half time after Marcus produced some fancy footwork to stop a Wycombe break resulting in a green-card.

After the break the same pattern continued with Maids dominating the ball, looking the better side as it was passed around, but then failing to create clear chances in front of goal. Wycombe added another scrappy goal on the break before grabbing a third late on with well worked corner after constant pressure from Maids had yielded no reward.

A consolation was grabbed at the end as Cameron Upton put away a penalty stroke with the last action of the game.

Frustrating and disappointing for the 2s, but if we play like that most week we will end up on the right side of results more often than not.
