Maid’s 2s dropped 3 points in a goal-fest at Eastcote on Saturday as simple mistakes at both ends of the field contributed in a 6-4 loss.
Maids started brightly, but were soon 2-0 down thanks to some poor defending and a clear chances not taken by Cameron Upton and Anthony Brayshaw. However, Maids soon responded with two quick goals from Anthony. Firstly sliding in from a great through ball by Cameron and then tucking away a loose ball on the line following good work from Nick Lloyd. Unfortunately, Maid’s then conceded on the stroke of half-time as miscommunication between Andy Downing and Handbag led to a third for Eastcote.
A deflected strike from a corner put Eastcote 4-2 up before Nick butchered a simple tap-in from Cameron’s pass, hitting the post instead. This was compounded by Jake Maury’s green for a stick tackle moments later. However, down to 10, Maid’s won a shot-corner and Josh Turner bundled the ball home! Any initiative was given up immediately from the re-start as Eastcote added a fifth and then a sixth as Andy auditioned for Bambi on Ice. Maids were then down to 10 again as Marcus earned a yellow for pushing a player over (having been chatting to the umpire for much of the second half) before Nick grabbed a consolation fourth with a volley.
MoM: Elvin – great play around at the back
