The Monarchs put in a brave performance agains a very good Slough team who went into this match unbeaten in 3 matches at the top of the league. Although conceding within the first 15 minutes, the team settled well and made some solid attacks with Alex working well up front and Dave and Marc solid in the holding positions in midfield. The defence was once again very well organised and we were unlucky to concede and given 2 first half short corners, the team should really have gone in level.
The second half performance was even better from the Monarchs despite the 2-1 second half scoreline. However, the Slough team were awarded a penalty flick which was converted and scored a very good 3rd goal with a back post conversion from a solid hit across the D. Connor put in a man of the match performance with some persistent movement up both wings and he set up Gavin who gave the team some hope at 3-1. Zak also put in a great performance hassling the oppositions midfield throughout the game and breaking up the game well. The team had some other good chances that were unfortunately not converted but the overall display we very encouraging. Thanks to David GS for stepping into goal in the absence of a regular keeper. The opposition also conceded that the 3-1 scoreline was flattering to them so this bodes well for the reverse fixture.
