Monarchs leave it late to beat Staines at home

The Monarchs produced back to back wins for the first time this season with a deserved win over a gutsy Staines team. The team started well with some good attacking play from both wings and had chances early on. However it was Staines who scored first with goal after 15 minutes. The Monarchs continued to attack up the left hand side with Alex getting into a lot of space from the left back position. Jack equalised having chased down a lost cause with and with great determination managed to slot in to get the team level at half time. The second half was a better display with James and Richard breaking up the play well in the centre of midfield and with Jack and Gavin pushing up on both wings the team had further chances to get ahead but on numerous occasions the team lacked composure in the D. Staines had their chances too but our defence held firm and battled to keep the team in the game. The whole team managed to keep battling on and with less than 10 minutes to go they finally got a deserved goal. Rod latched onto the ball and kept is composure on the left hand side of the goal and squared it across to Viren who finished the move off. Connor then kept the team ahead with a cracking save when the ball looked to be dipping on over his head. Late on, Mike made a great clearance from the back to find Rod out on the left. Rod once again kept is composure and drew the last defender and then slipped a perfect pass through the legs of the defender to find Viren who finished through the legs of the onrushing goalkeeper. The whole team worked really today to improve in the second half and kept going until the end.
