First draw for the Monarchs

The Monarchs missed the chance to hold onto second place in the league with a disappointing draw against Milton Keynes. The team played well in patches in the first half and certainly had the better of the chances but as has been the problem in some matches this season, the team weren't able to finish off some good attacking moves. Zak put in a man of the the match performance at left back with some solid defending and distribution and the whole back four stood up well to a good MK team that did threaten to score. There was a 15-20 minute delay at half time due to a black out which meant that both teams were having to re-start a little cold but the Monarchs improved on the first half display with some good attacking movement by Jack, Connor and Cory with further chances created but not capitalised on. Harley also put in a great second half performance as he gradually began to break up the play in the defensive midfield position and distribute the ball well to begin some attacks. The team deserved a win for the effort but the consolation was a first clean sheet of the season. A big thanks to Andy in goal who stepped in to replace David from the previous week. The team (in 4th place) now face a crucial away match vs Wootton Wanderers who are also on 19 points in second place in the last match before the Christmas.
