The Monarchs put on one of their best displays of the season despite losing 4-2 away to league leaders Slough Ramgarhia. The team tried out a new formation with a 4-4-2 set up which worked extremely well from the off. Duncan and James controlled the centre of midfield and time and time again managed to make interceptions and get the Monarchs on the attack. Richard was equally as effective on the right-hand side with Gavin and Jack doing the same on the left. For all the early pressure, there were no clean cut chances with Slough defending in numbers. However, the Monarchs were soon 1-0 with a well worked short corner routine whereby Richard's shot was saved, only for Jack to react quickly to slot in at the near post. Ramgarhia were always dangerous throughout and capitalised on 2 defensive errors to take their chances well and go into half time 2-1 up against the run of play. In the second half, the Monarchs were back on level terms within the first 5 minutes with another well worked short corner routing which saw Alex find Viren at the back post with a perfectly weighted pass for Viren to score. There were a number of great Monarchs attacks whereby the team should have probably made the keeper work more but as the game went on, it was clear that Slough were dangerous on the counter attack. The team tired in the last 10 minutes and effectively lost the game in this period with 2 Slough goals which ended the contest. Both teams contributed to a great match and the Monarchs were unlucky to not come away with at least a deserved point. Man of the Match to Andy for keeping the team in the game with some great saves.
