Monarchs dominate but lose tough away match

The Monarchs lost away to Eastcote when they deserved at least a point having dominated for most of a hard-fought match against a solid Eastcote team. The team started off very brightly with Ollie and Rob troubling the Eastcote defence on the left and right sides and the team came very close to opening the scoring when Viren found Clint in the D with a quick pull back with Clint firing just over goal. The team had several short corners which were not capitalised but continued to pour forward with a number of quick attacks. Eastcote managed only one shot on goal in the first half which was a drag flick from a short corner which proved to be the decisive moment in the match with the ball going in off the the underside of the bar. In the second half the game was pretty much played within the Eastcote half with Clint going close again when put through by Rob but firing just wide of the left-hand post. The Monarchs defence remained solid throughout with the back four very rarely troubled and all short corners defended very well. Connor once again proved extremely vital in goal saving from another short corner shot that was going in the top corner. Despite all the majority of the possession and some good passing moves, the team just lack a final ball and should really have had more shots on goal for all their efforts. This was a very unlucky loss and the positive to take from the match was the movement in the middle third where the team played sensibly in switching the ball when needed but will need to work on being more clinical in the final third. Next up is a home match v Aylesbury and if the team play like they did against Eastcote the result should hopefully be much more positive.
