Match Report – Saturday 20th October – Maidenhead Monarchs v Wycombe 6’s
On a glorious Autumn morning Monarchs started well and within 15 minutes were two up. Wycombe had a young and skill full side who even when they were goals down looked as though they could break the Monarchs lead and on several occasions had opportunities to score. With Monarchs experience and some good goalkeeping against this youthful side Maidenhead began to dominate the match and by half time were 5- 0 in front.
The second half was much the same with solid defending and good movement and running from the midfield leading to some accurate passing hockey to the D where Monarchs forwards were clinical in their goal scoring. The best goal of the game though coming from an individual run from defender Paul Wicker who beat a number of players from what felt like the half way line and slotted the ball home with accuracy from 5 yards.
Wycombe carried on putting pressure on Monarchs throughout the game without their heads dropping even though the goal fest continued at their end. A great team effort from the Monarchs with a further 6 goals added to finish the game with an 11 – 0 win.
Goal Scorers were :
Paul - 1
Tim – 3
Clint – 7
Chad - 0
Man of the match: Clint
