The Monarchs went into the match v Eastcote off the back of a very narrow and disappointing loss to the league leaders. Against Eastcote, the first half shift really won the match for the team with some excellent work put in up front in closing down the Eastcote defenders. The first goal came from a well worked set piece from outside the D. The ball was passed back towards Randy who looked up and put in a great first time ball to Tim who was able to finish neatly. The second goal came from Tim's great perserverance in closing down the Eastcote defence and latching onto a risky back pass and firing into the the far corner. The Eastcote team was still full of threat with Andy making some great saves to keep the opposition at bay and some great defensive work from Duncan, Nick, Cory and Randy snuffed out other attempts. But before half time, another good break from the Monarchs led to Tim getting his hat-trick and giving the team and very comfortable lead. In the second half, the play was a little more scrappy although as the game progressed, there were far more open spaces on the pitch which led to plenty of chances for both sides to score. The fourth and final Monarch goal came from some some very simple passing right from defence, with Cory finding Viren who moved the ball onto Tim and with a one-two exchange with Colin, was able to pass the ball into an empty net; a great team goal that finished the game off. This was certainly not the best Monarchs performance this season but most importantly, the 3 points were secured which should give the team confidence going into the last 2 matches before the Christmas break. The Eastcote team should be commended for continuing to push forward and not let heads drop, with some great skills shown by their younger players. Next up for the Monarchs; an away trip to Staines.
