The Monarchs went into the Christmas break on the back of a well earned win over a spirited OMT side.
Slow to get into our stride, the opposition started strongly and applied some early pressure, but the back 3 of Randy, Cory and Nick coped comfortably with whatever the OMT forward line count muster and ensured that Sean was rarely called into action.
Stepping up a gear and finally finding our shape, we started to show our attacking threat on the counter and took the lead with a typically well taken strike from Tim midway through the half, set up by Clint.
More chances to add to our tally quickly followed, with Chad denied by an excellent stop from the keeper, but just as we looked to be taking control a scruffy short corner gifted the opposition an equaliser.
A near miss from Ashley towards the end of the half saw it finish 1-1 at the break in an even contest so far.
The half time team talk saw the Monarchs come out far stronger after the restart.
A second goal for Tim was chalked off for a foul in the build up, but despite the increased pressure there were few further clear chances being created.
OMT seemed content to settle for a point, but not so the Monarchs, showing more desire with a late rally in search of a winner.
With time running out a last opportunity presented itself from a short corner. JC to Chad and duly dispatched past the keeper with a great strike.
The final whistle sounded only moments later. 2-1 Monarchs, , leaving it late but earning and a hard fought 3 points.
