Monarchs lose to league leaders

And so a crunch game up to Milton Keynes to face the league leaders. Sun was out a full team plus one for the Monarchs and we were off.

Monarchs started well some good passing and movement from both teams in the first 15 mins looked to set up a balanced strategic game. We sensed Milton Keynes beginning to grow into the match though we scored through Clint edging ahead. Milton Keynes continued to exert pressure putting a couple of goals past us to get us to half time. We were still well in the game knowing we needed the break to start to combat the growing tide.

Milton Keynes came out strong again in the second half increasing the pressure. They needed to work hard and were rewarded by a third goal and thereafter a fourth. Whether including the fourth or from the fourth a tsunami was unleashed on us with Milton Keynes players everywhere and shots fired from all angles. To a neutral observer a couple of the goals were something else. Within this some extremely brave defending from Randy,Nick and Cory with Sean performing some great saves.

7 / 1 down and completely traumatized the will and requirement to salvage some pride saw the last 10 minutes played in their half. We found some space both on the left and notably Mahdi was making progress on the right. We had a number of short corners and through an assist from Viren, Mahdi tapped in to help ease the journey home.

The fact we still played having been completely beaten up showed character and we know we were outplayed. The shell shock along with injuries did not help, though sense a strong reaction with the target laid down to win the next 5 games. To have what we have done to other teams dished out of us was no fun.

For man of the match the bravery and taking the brunt of the pain notably physically all the back four and unable to single one out. For showing the way forward in the next 5 games to come causing issues on the right and tapping in to give us a one nil win taking the last 10 minutes in isolation, Mahdi.
